Normally this is a key time for players. Not only are they reaching the end of the season, playing in big matches whether it is to win trophies, get into the play-offs or simply avoid relegation, but for many they are also playing for their future.
A raft of individuals will be out of contract with an uncertain future due to the current climate in around a month’s time. In the Scottish Premiership, more than 100 players will see their deals expire at the end of May.
