Gay hip-hop star Frank Ocean’s album ‘best of year’
The album Channel Orange triumphed in the annual HMV “poll of polls” which draws together the choices of UK music writers.
The 25-year-old hip-hop artist, whose recording has so far made it to No 2 in the UK charts, was last week nominated for six Grammy Awards.

Hide AdThe openly gay singer – whose lifestyle is regarded as unusual in the hip-hop world – has drawn continual acclaim since the release of his album in July and Channel Orange has been chosen as album of the year by five UK publications.
Second place in the poll went to former White Stripes and Raconteurs frontman Jack White with Blunderbuss
