Nicola Sturgeon 'overwhelmed' by 50th birthday wishes from across Scotland
Nicola Sturgeon has taken to social media to thank the nation for the 50th birthday wishes she has received.
She posted: “To say I’m overwhelmed by all the cards, flowers and good wishes I have received from across the country for my (ahem) 50th birthday, would be an understatement.”

Hide AdIn today’s Scotland on Sunday, she has spoken exclusively with Dani Garavelli about reaching the milestone, on her resilience and about the SNP’s unity.
She told Garavelli that over the last four months, dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, she discovered she has “a deep reserve of both physical and mental resilience”.
This morning, she added that she simply wanted to ‘pop on’ to social media ‘briefly’ – to say ‘thank you’.
Today’s celebrations are likely to be low-key, given the current pandemic circumstances, but the First Minister may get one present she has asked for.
“The only thing I have said to Peter I really want to do is go a walk along the beach in Dunure,” she told Scotland on Sunday.
"I spent a lot of my childhood there because it’s where my dad grew up and where my grandparents lived until they died.”
Birthday wishes have come from across the country and beyond.
