ONLINE retailer Play.com yesterday revealed that, compared with last year, its sales rose by 24 per cent over the Christmas period.
Play.com said 1,000 orders a minute were placed on 8 December – the day of the company's "Mega Monday" promotion – 43 per cent higher than on the same day last year.
The newly released Batman: The Dark Knight film notched up 115,000 sales alone on 8 December.
The Jersey-based retailer traditionally sold discounted CDs, DVDs and computer games but has moved into ticket sales and clothing.
