Cycling: Leading lights for night race
Geraint Thomas and Steve Cummings from the UCI ProTour team Barloworld will join a host of top riders for the Edinburgh Nocturne, the night-time race which will take place in the city centre on May 30.
Thomas, a 22-year-old Welshman, was part of the triumphant team pursuit squad at the Beijing Olympics. He has just returned to action after suffering a fractured pelvis and a broken nose when he crashed in March and is a reserve for the Giro d'Italia which starts on Saturday.

Among the others who have stated they will be competing in the event is former Tour de France yellow jersey David Millar, while in-form, Capital-based rider James McCallum – a Commonwealth Games medallist and former British Criterium champion who won the Smithfield Nocturne in London two seasons ago – will hope to make local knowledge count.
