Members of the League Against Cruel Sports organised yesterday’s protest in London and other UK cities in an effort to persuade the company to give 1p for every 1 bet on the dogs.
Annette Crosbie, one of the stars of hit TV show One Foot in The Grave and league president, said: "The greyhounds need more money. They deserve proper care before, during and after their racing careers."
The Edinburgh-born actress, who is the owner of four retired greyhounds, said William Hill must make a contribution to ensuring veterinary care and homes after the dogs retire.
