Letters: Economist row
The selection of the towns on the map suggests that Unionist insiders must have researched all this very carefully. His Grampian area head office is in Inverurie, listed by the Economist as “Inveruin”. This is also where I was born. It’s probably where I’ll end up if we have to suffer independence – Inveruined.
May I add some more? Peteroot for Peterhead maybe? Dingwail for Dingwall? Sullen for Cullen? Dourness for Durness? (Only joking!) I’m sure the chief will be visiting Loandone soon to demand funding for his revenge on the Economist.

The joke is on Scotland and methinks the protesters do protest too much for, if they knew our history, they would know that it was the huge debts created by the failure of the Darien Scheme that persuaded Scotland’s legal government of the time to apply for (against the wishes of the ignorant mobs) Union with England, Wales and Ireland.
From recent remarks it would appear that the ignorant mobs are still with us. Have we learned nothing?
