Dull debate
We had the usual “huge” savings (£3.5 billion per annum) from not renewing Trident to offset the “modest” (£36bn per annum) increase in (borrowed) public expenditure needed in order to “decrease” austerity.
For the rest – zzz! Little wonder that for most of the time the audience sat in stony silence.

Hide AdThe BBC Election Leaders’ Special with Cameron, Miliband and Clegg was the best political viewing so far in this hotly contested election.
Our own Election Special with Nicola Sturgeon was embarrassingly pathetic by comparison. She must have thought it her lucky day.
There were no challenges or probing questions and, frustratingly, Glenn Campbell exercised little meaningful control over, or imposed any real structure to, the proceedings. One has to wonder how the audience was chosen.
