Extra patrols since veteran attacked at home
John Lambert, 91, was left lying on the floor of his Duke Street flat for half an hour after a couple forced their way in and he was thrown to the ground. The Royal Scots veteran could not phone the police because the thugs had torn his phone from the wall during the raid on Friday at 3.20pm.
Detective Inspector Dave Pinkney said: “This appears to be a completely isolated incident and crimes of this nature remain rare in Leith and in Edinburgh as a whole. Nevertheless, patrols will be visible in Leith as we continue our inquiries.”
