Hide AdCurrie, 74, later initially denied attacking his wife of 22 years and claimed if he had wanted to kill his step-daughter he would have “used a bigger knife”.
He previously admitted at the High Court in Glasgow to assaulting Mrs Currie to her permanent disfigurement and Miss Docherty, 49, to the danger of her life.
Judge Lord McEwan yesterday jailed first offender Currie to a total of four and a half years.
Advocate depute Mr di Emidio said the Curries’ marriage is now over and that the women have been “greatly traumatised” by the attacks.
James MacDonald, defending, said Currie had “profound regret” for what he had done.
