Brian Souter’s son avoids jail after ‘letter’
Scott Souter wrote the letter to Sheriff Robert McCreadie, explaining his binge drinking which led to him assaulting two men in a Perth bar.
Souter, 21, admitted attacking two men in Perth’s Roca Blu bar in June 2012, punching one in the face and the other in the head and body.

McCreadie added: “I thank Mr Souter for doing that.”
“I wanted to make him reflect on his own behaviour ... If this court has helped him, I’m pleased.”
The contents of the letter were not made public.
Scott Souter was convicted of assault in 2009 and ordered to pay £400 compensation to his victim. In 2007, at 15 years old, Souter was caught driving his father’s car the wrong way down a one-way street while uninsured. He was banned from driving.
